Let us tell you a little about who we are and what we do.
This 16-month (December 2005 to March 2007) project has recruited 12 of us from the Bracken Bank, Ingrow, Braithwaite, Highfield, Malsis Road, Guardhouse, Parkwood and Hainworth Wood areas of Keighley. Our aim is to move into long- term career employment in health and/or community activities at the end of the project. All of us, known as "Apprentices", will work in the health promotion area delivering neighbourhood based programmes of work, aimed at improving the health of disadvantaged groups and individuals and breaking down barriers to employment. We are all employed by Keighley Voluntary Services but we are placed with one of seven local health and social care organisations, each of which has contributed to the funding of the project, and will provide work experiences for us.
