This month I have mainly concentrated on doing home visits, which were either to register births in the Sure Start area or doing assessments with the speech and language worker. All 2 year olds are assessed as to their level of speech. If there are any concerns, they are referred to the speech and language therapist, who gives talking tips. While I am doing home visits, I also do a 'warm, safe, secure' check, and if necessary ask parents if they want certain items of safety equipment (ie safety gates/fireguards) in the home. A small charge of £5 is made for each item.
