June 2006The 'BabyTalk' course is going really well and the mums are really keen to come.To further support parents with babies and young children, Sure Start have had promotion vouchers for borrowing car seats on a short term basis. These were given to families in Sure Start areas with babies, but it was compulsory for a parent to come and view a car safety DVD in order to get the vouchers. Then all the parents had to do was to go 'Baby Scene' in Keighley to have a car seat fitted in their car. The reasons for viewing the car seat DVD were to make parents aware of safety using car seats, how to fit it properly using the seat belt and how to do up all the straps correctly. I assisted in the organising the visits to Rainbow Centre to view the DVD and interpreting for some of the parents. Save the Children: This was a presentation by Jason Carter at the Rainbow centre for Sure Start workers so that they were aware of what support there is available for children 5-16 years old who are not happy with school, who have been excluded or if there are issues over admissions. Personal Development activities completed this month: Introduction to Mental Health Basic Awareness and Domestic Abuse. Tackling nutritional problems in children. Health and safety at A.G.H Play work in Early Years. I.T entry Level 3 completed. |
