February 2007

This month I have been involved in the following
  • Seated classes
  • Helping with the Keighley Market Consultation event
  • Cook and eat sessions
  • Ice skating with the girls youth club
At the Cook and Eat session at Braithwaite School, I help teach children with learning difficulties how to cook healthy food. We are doing cooking from around the world, so each week for 6 weeks, we cook something from a different part of the world.

In the first session we make muffins just to get the children interested in cooking and just to let them have fun. We have made vegetable curry from India this week and next week we shall make pizza from Italy, which was the children's choice.

During the session we also play a game called the balance of good health, which the children really enjoy, as it helps them to see and remember which foods are good for them and which are not so good for them.

I have also been ice-skating with the girls youth club, which the girls enjoyed a lot. Many wanted to go again but we decided that next time we would do something different as not all the girls enjoyed ice skating as they could not skate.
