April 2006

I attended some more courses this month, of which the Counselling skills should be highlighted. This course gave me vast knowledge of what counselling is about and how to do it. I will be able to use the skills in a variety of situations in my work.

To make TIME OUT YOUTH CLUB (TOYC) successful, there was a need for some core funding otherwise it wasn't possible to run the Youth Club. Therefore I have made some funding applications, as the supporting officer of Time Out Youth Club. I also applied to Royds Small Grants and Bradford Play Scheme for funding for the Sangat summer scheme.

The funding for TOYC will be used for diversionary activities as well as reduce boredom, isolation and create positive vibes in helping the young people achieve their goals and aspirations. The funding will be used for activities such as arts and crafts, dance and exercise, healthy eating, sports activities, play and learn, as well as workshops on bullying, self-harm, body image, etc. The funding will also create training opportunities to build on their skills, confidence and teamwork. We aim for the project to be community led as much as possible but also to work with various organisations across Keighley to sustain the project.
