February 2006

I have started to go to a seated exercise class, with a colleague from the Physical Activity Community Development Team. She has set up this Seated Exercise Class in Ilkley, which has been successfully running for a year. All of the people, who attend the seated class, have been referred by their GP or Nurse. The purpose of the seated class is to get people active and to increase their mobility.
The seated class runs every Monday from 10.30am till 11.30. In this group, every one gets along with each other; they work as a team and welcome newcomers with open arms. When I first went, they were interested in what a Health Apprentice did, they all got on with me and liked my company and I liked the group. I had to take part myself in the seated exercise, which was fun. I learnt what sort of exercise I can do while I'm sitting down. (I'll show you if you like!)
