October 2006

Unfortunately, I fear that this "BLOG" may fall short in describing the Keith Thompson's Mothers and Toddlers Halloween Party. There is no way that I do justice in written words to what, on the whole, was a perfect night! Volunteers and residential staff all pulled together in decorating the centre and organising the whole event (from the large plastic 'Grim Reaper' to the baking of what seemed like hundreds of buns) The DJ was fantastic and created just the right atmosphere (although I'm sure Michelle and I didn't really need to lead 80% of the dances...)
There was a mixture of old and present members of the toddler group which soon became unimportant, recognition wise, as we had our fair share of witches, ghosts, vampires and skeletons (Oh! and the children came along dressed up too!)
Hot dogs and buns were soon devoured and the 'Time Warp' became somewhat of an anthem classic, as it took us adults back to our childhood days (and some only as far back as their last night out on the town).
I feel it's fair to say that a good night was had by all. Everyone entered into the "spirit" of things (sorry had to get a pun in somewhere) and the overall effort in regards to costumes, decorating, organisation and general participation was A1. And so, even though my feet were killing me the day after, I could hang my witches' hat up for another year with a smile on my face.
Note to myself:
Possibly get a haircut before next Halloween party, as one child commented on how nice my wig was...!!!!!!!
