March 2007This is my final BLOGs as I have come to the end of my position as a Keighley Community Health Apprentice. What a year, and a whole new learning experience. I have not done as much in my whole working career as I have done this past year as a Health Apprentice based at Sure Start Children's Centre. I have worked with so many wonderful people at Keighley Voluntary Services & Sure Start and I thank you all for making the last 14 months so enjoyable and memorable. I thank Ian Peaple and Susanne Williams for giving me the opportunity to achieve all I set out to do and to all the Sure Start staff for putting up with me, and of course Amarya for being my best buddy Health Apprentice. We had our laughs and good times!! But this is not the end for me just yet, as the skills and the knowledge that I gained as a Health Apprentice will be used in my new role as a Community Health Development Worker, working specifically with young parents and breast feeding mothers, as this was my main focus as a Health Apprentice. I will be based at the Keighley Healthy Living Network in Keighley, where I am already involved with the Baby Cafe and Keighley Young Mums, Tots and Bumps Group. I would also like to thank Chris Rollings and Val Mills for having faith in me in order to obtain funding for my new position. So this isn't really a goodbye, as I will still have my links with Sure Start, through Maternity Care and will probably bump into you all on a regular basis. Thank you to everyone I have met this past year - you are all such wonderful people. And to all the other Health Apprentices, it was lovely to meet you all. We will definitely have to keep in touch, good luck and all the best to you all in your future careers. Bye |
