March 2007This is the last BLOG I will write as a Health Apprentice, and as I write, I feel rather sad, that my time in this post has nearly come to an end.Looking back over the last 16 months, I feel I have achieved a great deal. I have not only earned qualifications, but I have learned so much practical experience through my 'hands-on' work. As a Health Apprentice I have gained lost of knowledge and have put this into practice, not only at work but at home as well. I feel that my family and I are now healthier because of this. As I have said in previous BLOGs, the contents of my fridge and that of my children's lunch boxes have changed considerably. I now only use olive oil based spreads, and oils, and I don't buy any thing with trans-fats or hydrogenated fats in them. I could go on forever but I think you get the point!!!!! There have been lots of changes in my life, most of these by being given information on a vast range of subjects. I would also like to think that during my time as a Health Apprentice, I have passed this information and knowledge onto other people, to enable them to make changes to their lives and those of their families. It would have been sad to have said goodbye to all the groups I have been working with, but I don't have to say goodbye, as I have been offered a new post as a Community Health Development (Outreach) Worker, with my host organisation Keighley Healthy Living Network. In this post I will be continuing with some of the work I have enjoyed doing for the last 16 months. |
