November 2006This month I have been involved in a number of new events and activities. 1. Fun fitness sessions for parents and their children, which are being held at Fitness First, and are being run by a health and fitness expert. At these sessions, parents and their children can have fun exercising together in a friendly environment. We usually start off with warm up games such as Captains Coming, Traffic Lights and similar activities, then its time to get really sweaty as it is circuit time. Parents go around a circuit of activities with their children, such as sit-ups, lateral raises, skipping, hula hoping and lots more. I have really been enjoying these sessions and every one has a great time. 2. Healthy eating and fitness sessions at Ingrow Primary School in Keighley. Which is with the same health and fitness expert. Parents/carers have been invited in to the school to participate in these sessions. The session starts with 45 minutes of exercise followed by 45 minutes of class work. In the exercise segment we do many different things including aerobics, Pilates, Tai Chi and lots more.In the classroom section, parents/ carers are working their way through a booklet on healthy eating. We have covered subjects such as the balance of good healthy eating, portion sizes and we have also made smoothies. I was also involved in the KEIG day event (Keighley Elderly Initiatives Group), which was held at Victoria Hall in Keighley on the 7th November. This was a fun day, where older people from all around Keighley, were invited to come together to enjoy entertainment and food. It was all free and over 200 hundred older people attended. It was a smashing success. Right at the end of the month I will be involved in some Christmas cookery sessions at Oakbank School in Keighley, but I think I'll tell you about this next month STAY TUNED |
