January 2007Before I do this month's BLOG, I felt I needed to tell you that I have had to deal with a lot in December, as my grandma died, with the funeral being 5 days before Christmas. This was the same day as the kid's disco, that I wrote about in December's BLOG. Yes it was hard but I did it, but if it wasn't for Maxine (my supervisor at The Keith Thompson Centre) and Peter (my husband), it would have been even harder. Even though Maxine is my 'boss', she has become a very good friend. She even asked me if I wanted to cancel the kid's party- I could have done but it was for the kids and I didn't want to let them down. So I just want to say 'Thank you' Maxine for being there for me and to my husband Peter 'Thank you' for helping me and also for being there for me. Right, back to my BLOG for this month. I have been helping the local PCSO (Police Community Support Officer) to get name and addresses of children from the estate, who deserve to go on adventure trips with the PCSOs. There are a couple that start in February and he has asked whether I would be able to get 30 kids from the age of 8 to 16. So far I have nearly ten, but I'm going to get them as it'll be ideal, considering that some of them haven't been rock climbing, caving, etc before. I think it's a great idea for the kids to go on the trips, as we didn't have "owt" like this when we were kids. It's also something completely new for some of them. So now I've only 20 more kids to find. I just wish that I could go but I'm not allowed, as I have already asked!!!! Well all I can say is these kids are very lucky to be going. |
