Youth groups
This month at the Bangladeshi Community Association, they have been doing healthy eating sessions, pool and table tennis. The
group has also started a five-week football course up at Oakbank School, in Keighley, to develop their football skills even further.
The Hainworth Youth Group had a day trip out to Lightwater Valley during the Easter holidays. The group has also been doing fundraising
for a new digital camera. The group came up with some good ideas for fundraising and decided to do bingo. We had a bingo night on the
last Thursday of the month and had a good turn out, with a mixture of ages being involved.
With both of these groups, I have built a good working relationship and hope to continue to build their confidence and skills.
Over 50's
The Over 50's group at Hainworth have been doing a five-week reminiscences project with the Over 50's group at Whinfield, in
Braithwaite, Keighley. During this time the group have met up 4 times. Using a number of fun activities, they have been looking back
in time and remembering the 'good old days'. Both of the groups really enjoyed meeting up. I am also involved in arranging for an Over
50's club to start up in the village hall at Long Lee, in Keighley,. There is some work being carried out at the moment to get it up
and running and we hope to open up for the senior people in the near future.
Neighbourhood Action Planning Groups(NAPs)
The NAPs group are looking at fresh ideas on how to tackle the issues that concern the residents most of all. They are looking to
focus on the community by getting out to meet and talk to the people. It is at an early stage at the moment and we are looking for
more residents and agencies to get involved.
